Nortel Networks - Computer Programmer
Helped create an application in C++ on AIX to receive, verify, store, and guarantee delivery of telephony billing records. The installation and configuration utilities were written in Perl, ksh, and Java.
- Adapted the billing application to enable hot upgrades on fault tolerant hardware
- Reduced maintenance costs by rewriting the primary configuration utility to get prompts and validation routines from a separate file
- Reduced average alarm testing time from three days to two hours by writing an automation tool in Perl and TK/TCL
- Improved testing efficiency by automating reporting with a Perl/CGI based web page
- Directed feature development for multiple releases
- Improved customer satisfaction by enabling them to define data for selecting billing file destinations
- Ensured overall product quality and effectiveness by reviewing design proposals and code for all features in each release
- Collaborated with a development group porting the billing application from AIX to Chorus.
