Nortel Networks - Computer Programmer
Helped create a client/server framework used by Nortel Networks' element management software. This framework is implemented primarily in Java, with some Perl, ksh, awk/nawk, sed, XML, HTML, and CSS. Components of the system communicate via JDBC, CORBA, RMI, or SNMP.
- Increased throughput of a Java SNMP proxy agent by 1302% within the first three months of working on the project
- Assumed responsibility for timely delivery of an incomplete feature two weeks before its due date
- Upgraded the Java SNMP library used by the framework and all applications that utilize the framework with minimal impact to any design teams
- Enhanced a Java-based VOIP element manager to support MADN
- Reduced build errors by creating a generic makefile that dynamically determined necessary components for the build
- Designed an SNMP poller to collect operational statistics of network elements using Perl and XML
- Made documentation stored in ClearCase available on department web page with a Perl/CGI script
